A few questions maybe someone can help me out with in regards to battalion formations in the Grand Alliance and WSS period.
In the WSS British Regiments had three ranks as oppose to the French who used five or four ranks depending on their battalion CO. For the LoA period when we take into account that some nations and armies used pikes what was different than above? I believe that Anglo-Dutch regiments would have three ranks of musketeers with center pike block of six ranks with grenadiers on the flanks and as a screen in front of the pikes. Did the French and their allies use the same formation?
Also in regards to platoon firing, was platoon firing used in the earlier period of LoA as compared to the later period of WSS?
