Greetings,

Well, I came home from a "Robbie Burns Dinner" where someone told me about the ULB rules . . . and I WANT them!

In early March I'm supposed to run a quasi-Fraustadt 1706 battle for a couple of guys. I was going to try to decipher "Ga Pa"; but UPL sounds like a much better alternative (and I have trouble with some of Ga Pa's logic -- not the rules themselves, but the writing).

I tried to join . . . but didn't get a "password". My email is . . . bluebear@uniserve.com . . . and I'm on Vancouver Island (off the coast of mainland British Columbia), Canada.

I've enjoyed your online photos for years but hadn't been to your website for quite a while (we've just moved). Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting the rules as soon as I can.

UPL = ULB

Perhaps I had too much haggis at the "Robbie Burns Dinner" . . . or maybe it was some other product of Scotland.

In any event, I would like to join and get a copy of "Under the Lily Banner".

Jeff,

welcome! I indeed feel honoured to have been mentioned in conversation at a 'supper' for our national Bard. His birthplace is less than 30 miles from where I am sitting right now and you are drinking his health in Canada!!!
I will send the rules by e mail but I also suggest you join the forum - I guess using your nom de plume BlueBear. Subscribing to the Newsletter sectio is also free - just input e mail address and then automatically WHEN and update is ready it will be sent.

I suppose I should end this on a Burn's quote...but won't 8)

Wow!

Thanks, Barry, that was impressively quick. I posted the request just a few minutes ago and I've already got the rules . . . (I repeat) "Wow".

Now my problem . . . it is 3:45 am and I really really should go to bed . . . but I've just received a new rule set . . . oh, the agony . . .

Who needs sleep anyway?

Barry,

Okay, I've now registered here . . . and so far I'm really liking the ULB rules.

Barry,

One question I have has to do with Section 2.3 Cavalry Movement. You don't list Dragoons separately. Do they move the same rate as unarmored Horse (which I presume is your "Cavalry" category)?

Or, since Dragoons very often had seriously inferior horses compared to true cavalry, do they get a slower movement rate?

PS, still liking the rules a lot
