Does anyone have information about the Kurland regiments in Dutch service during the Franco-Dutch war?

There was a regiment of dragoons raised by the Duke of Kurland. This regiment became the Regiment Garde Dragonders later.

Plus of course the 1673 infantry regiment under Duke Fred(e)rik Kazimir (Cas/zimir) of Kurland/Coerland/Koerland. According to Ringoir he was appointed colonel 29th april 1673.

"Het Staatsche Leger" writes in Volume V, p. 267:

"The States made a capitulation deal with Frederik Casismir, son of the duke of Coerland, to deliver two regiments, for the period of four months, with a prepayment of 20 pound the man, plus one month and a half pay as salary, armed two thirds musketeers, one third pikemen.."

Not much actually, as my Livonian is a bit rusty. The coloured plates of the siege of Naarden give away some clues, like the red hats.

Wienand,

Very may thanks for posting the Dutch Regiments link - that is a superb resource. I've seen links to something similar before but the pages always seemed to be down.

Cheers,

Phil
