Painting a French Colonel and staff... help needed !

Post by chema1986 » Tue Jun 24, 2014 9:35 am

Hello Gents, a few months ago I purchased from Warfare Miniatures the "Staff officer group" http://www.leagueofaugsburg.com/shop/product-125.html

I want them to be french, But honestly, I do not know how to paint the staff or courier officers... Should they be in light grey with white sash and coloured facings and pants depending on their regiments ?

And concerning the mounted officer... Did high ranking officers wear "wealthy" civilian clothes , like Generals and Marshals? or Did the colonels (for example) wear a more uniformed look ?

Many thanks in advance,

Cheers

I think you have pretty free choice in your colours. Staff associated with a commander were probably wealthy noblemen. They may have come from regiments and dress like that or pay for their own clothes. I think you would be OK with any colours as long as the sashes were French coloured - often white I believe.
