Yes uniforms are hard to get hold of ribbons no ribbons 1 or 2 even cavalry had them I think from what ive read about French had ribbons in 1670s 1680s then removed in the 90s but the French guard looks like they kept them and on both shoulders, the vast majority seem to be Red Ribbons on shoulders and neck scalf knots (white scalf tide with a red almost dicky bow like knot) even though French are mainly all grey the red Ribbons and neck scalf ribbons in red really stand out and look quite fancy
. I don't think English had shoulder ribbons it seems to be a French fancy..... don't quote me on it though it was a very flamboyant fashionable time
