Not sure how accurate this is ,but if you scroll down you will find uniform info for the 2 regts you require

http://obscurebattles.blogspot.co.uk/

It's a good site to browse anyway.

Thanks Bob

Its a gem of a site I really like the map work he's done It would have been interesting to have had it with me when I visited the battlefield earlier this year.

With regard to the two afore named Dutch Horse however the mystery remains. Part of the wider uncertainty of the United Provinces (Dutch) infantry regts Rechteren and Goor at the battle. These two regts re appear again within Ramillies ORBAT and once again cited as being part of the Dutch contingent rather than subsidy troops. The Dutch cavalry regt Sachsen Heilburg is the third regt named as being present at Blenhiem. While there is well documented information on this regt. The others do not appear in any sources I have access to.

Does anyone know whether these two regts appear in Hall's latest work on the Dutch Army or anywhere else for that matter ?

Thanks

I wasn't aware of problems with the presence of the three Dutch horse regiments, I have the following details from the Münster camp OdB and my notes from the Dutch site, uniforms from a booklet (forget name)

1st line left wing
Brigadier Hans Jurrien de Baldwin (recently promoted)
Regiment Baldwin 1 sqn (701c)
Regiment Erbach 2 sqns (688c)
2 Hanoverian horse

2nd line left wing
currently unknown brigadier
Regiment Sachsen-Heilburg 2 sqns (625a)

Regiment Erbach
Philip Ludwig, Graf von Erbach
White coat lined green
Also known as 1st Württemberg

Regiment Baldwin
no details of uniform, I guess a white coat?

Regiment Sachsen-Heilburg
Ernst Friedrich, Herzog von Sachsen-Heilburg
Grey coat lined red or white coat lined pink
White coat lined rose red
(slight variations but similar)

All Dutch national regiments of horse (nominally 150 men per sqn)

hope this helps slightly, and yes great maps on that site, although like everyone has made guesses and errors.

Hall does have both reg't listed but uniform guide only fro Erbach.

Erbach - white coat, red cuffs and turn backs, saddle blanket, pistol covers, cream pants

Thank you both very much for coming back on this one :D

While I was unable to search the number references 688c & 701c provided (the http://www.dutchregiments.org and its successor site appear to have closed down) I was able to find the following further with the info supplied

Regiment Erbach (1690-1720)

Col. Filips Lodewijk Graaf van Erbach

Founded in 1688 as a regiment of Frederick Hartman of Erffa . In 1720 joined Regiment 's Gravenmoer .

Regiment Baldwin (1701-1715)

Regiment Baldwin van Voorst

Col Johan de Jurriën Baldwin,

( † 1710 ) Dutch officer ; major of the cavalry regiment Erbach 1698 ; colonel of a regiment of cavalry Overijssels 1701 ;Brigadier 1704 ; Major General 1709.

The secondary sources for these were cited as:
• Dr . J W Wine , The States Army VIII ( The Hague, 1964 ) ...
• H. Ringoir , pedigrees and continuations of Cavalry and Cyclists ( The Hague, 1978 )

Does anyone have access to these books and know more ?

Thanks again
