uniform identification help

Post by Old John » Sun Jul 22, 2018 7:47 am

The other day while sorting out some figures rediscovered some figures that i got off Ebay UK some years back, have tried to identify the uniforms using early Ospreys, Kannik's Uniform's of the World, Grant's Pike & Shot (1st edition), used these as the figures are old Les Higgins WSS, which i think the painter must have used back then, haven't yet looked in Editions Brokaw booklets or Sapherson's ones

So as there a fair number of knowledgeable members out there thought i'd ask

Musketeers in dark blue tunics, white neck cloth, trousers & breeches, one has orange cuffs & collar, other has yellow collar & cuffs
Grenadier in mitre (dark blue, white bag) dark blue tunic, white cuffs, breeches, stockings, neck cloth white
Grenadier in mitre (red with yellow trim around bottom of mitre, green tunic with yellow cuffs, breeches white, stockings red
Musketeers purple coat, one with yellow cuffs, one with red cuffs & breeches, stockings & neck cloth both white, tricorne edged yellow
Musketeer, green coat, cuffs and hat trimmed yellow, trousers red, stockings, neck cloth white

Also found a couple of old Warrior 1690's range
Dismounted Dragoon, light blue coat with white right shoulder knot, cuffs light blue slashed white as is coat, white neck cloth
Pikeman, yellowish coat & breeches, cuffs & stockings light green, white neck cloth, hat trimmed white

Any thoughts, comments , suggestions most welcome

Blue and orange cuffs regiment maybe Dutch Guards?

Purple coats maybe Spanish regiments?

Yellow maybe Spanish or Swiss?

Dragoon maybe Spanish or French dragoons du roi?

If you can get pictures up will be clearer as to spanish or french

But I lean more to spanish regiments

thanks for suggestions, agree those in green and purple likely to be Spanish but which regts/tercios?

dragoon in light blue don't think it's French Maison d'Roi as i racall that when i got them as well as pikeman in yellowish coat, a couple of boxes they came in were marked Boyne !! :D

will try and do pics soon
again many thanks

Yellowish coats could be Danish guards then but don't think they used pikes by that period I think they were all flintlock armed

Are the Les Higgins figures that you mentioned 20mm (1/72nd scale)? If so and just in case you'd be interested in acquiring more I have a few infantry and cavalry figures listed on eBay.

I just checked my eBay listings and I don't see it, I must have sold them. I do still have 80 plus 25mm Grenadier
Seven Years War Austrian figures listed, they have both the tricorne hat and grenadier cap separate heads. I do have a few Les Higgins 30mm figures that are post TYW but prior to the WSS period.

Well Old John, perhaps I've got good news. These Les Higgins figures are in fact listed on my eBay account, #113146839297
I'm not sure where you're located, I don't normally ship outside the US but I could probably make an exception - I'd probably have to charge something for shipping though. Let me know if you're interested.
