Card driven systems

Post by theoldschool » Wed Nov 28, 2007 11:17 pm

The various posts on using cards for DH in the most recent LOGW game got me thinking. One of my favourite game systems is I Ain't Been Shot Mum by the TooFatLardies, a sort of cross between traditional rules and free kriegspiel, which uses a card driven move sequence.
The card decks are tailored for specific forces and have some nice touches. Bringing in mortar or other off table artillery requires a sequence of cards to be drawn so it's impossible to tell how long it will take between calling for artillery and it arriving. I also particularly like the Tea Break card which ends the turn.
I think I will have a look at whether their card system could be used for DH, it would certainly reflect the friction of war.
