Malplaquet, 1709/2009

Post by Angus Konstam » Sun Jan 11, 2009 11:02 am

Gentlemen,

Now that the enforced jolity of the New Year is behind us, and dour, rain-laden January is in full flow, the time has come to plan future campaigns.

To that end, gentlemen, it would be useful if you could say what lead (if any) you'll be able to field for the Maplaquet game in June. Either Grand Alliance or Marlburian figures would be perfectly acceptable, and at a pinch we could even find a home for Great Northern War chappies, as long as they were willing to pass themselves off as something else!

We'll be using wee Barry's rules, so it would help if your little chaps are based to suit. Oh, and if you have a preference for one side or the other, and it isn't obvious through your wee leaden offerings, then please say so. I already have the perfect commands for Dale, Bob and the Nicholsons...

Pip Pip,

Angus

Barry,

Crikey - that's a splendid start!

Of course, you don't have to be an umpire - after all, the rules should be straightforward enough for the rest of us to follow. Therefore you can always cast yourself as Jaffa, Prince of Oranges, or the Master of Camp...

Angus , this is an easy one for me . I have NO figures to contribute having nothing at all for this period. I knwo that some of my fellow LOGW gamers will now be recovering from heart attacks at the news but yes, this is a period where I don't have any lead.

Russian command perhaps Angus ?

Count me in.

all the best

Angus, I'm still in the process of rebasing my figures so do you want to know what I currently have or what I will have once I am finished with them?

Cheers

Dave: I'd prefer it if you can figure out what you'll have after re-basing.
Thanks.

Peter N: Unfortunately the Russians aren't involved in this one, but the main thing is that you and Andrew bring yourselves...

I'll be there and as I'm sure you probably know - I have no figures for that period. I do now however have 10 figures for any further Wild West games.

Not much use for this period though.

Sorry for my ignorance but are there any 'Germanic' commands available?

MALPLAQUET TROOPS

Post by bill5549 » Sun Jan 25, 2009 2:47 pm

Angus

Here is a list of my Malburian troops.

All have been rebased for BLB. Light guns are based as battalion pieces.

All the Cav are in Squadrons of 6. Most make up 2 Sqd units.

All the Infantry are in battalions of 3 bases approx 15 to 18 figures per btn. A couple can be expanded to 4 stands - British Grenadiers and the Dutch Guards.

I will base up a few more guns in the next couple of weeks.

I also list numbers of GNW Russians in floppy hats/tricornes that could be used as they are sans standards at the moment.

Angus,

If places available can you count me in?

I'm figureless, ruleless (I promise to get a set of the rules in due course, Barry!) and some might say clueless but more than happy to fight the cause for Queen Anne.

I do have buildings that would suit the period if required.

Cheers

Angus,

As Dale is computer illiterate he has asked me to post this message to the Maplaquet forum: -

"Happy to join in with this one lads. I publicly confess – I HAVE NO FIGURES FOR THIS PERIOD – IN ANY SCALE, SHAPE OR FORM. I didn’t even know it was a period until the Brigadier sat on me and forced me to repeat after him all of the battles, commanders, monarchs, butchers, bakers, etc from the whole era. I’ve almost recovered but can I have my specs back please Charles."
