JUNE 2007

Post by barr7430 » Fri Feb 09, 2007 11:43 am

Hello All,

Just a note to announce that the JUNE 2007 game for the League of Gentlemen Wargamers will be

NORMANDY 1944

Although (like the big event itself) it will take a bit of preparing, it is anticipated that the game will be fought in Four phases (each taking up to 4 hours)
D-1
BEACH
BREAKOUT
CLOSING POCKET

Of course time will be compressed as the above activities took nearly two months.

We will use 15mm miniatures. Most will be provided bu if anyone feel inclined to paint something then please contact me for some guidance on what is available/required.
We will use UMPIRE MODERATED FLAMES OF WAR rules which are extremely easy to learn and quick to play.

I've already had confirmation from three Gentlemen re: attendance. Please let me know if you'll be joining us through this(the usual channel).

Looking forward to it already!

June Game

Post by Blucher » Fri Feb 09, 2007 2:58 pm

Herman Von Blucher (The Great, Great Grandson of the Napoleonic Hero)
will be honoured to help repulse 'Tommy Atkins' and 'Billy Yank' on the beaches, to help retain France as an 'Aryan Resort', part of the Reich and for the greater Glory of the Fatherland! Due to our Mighty Fuhrer's exertions, Generations of Germans and their 'little blond haired children' will be able to go on holiday and eat pretzels and strudel as they exercise in the sand!!!

Have we had confirmation regarding the dates for this game? Peter mentioned the 15-17 June a little while back and was going to get confirmed dates from the Airlie, any word from them Peter?

Cheers

Barry, I forgot to mention that I have a few brits, some tanks and infantry I could bring along to the game. The infantry are based for AK47 three to a base and I seem to remember FOW having something similar. The fact that a few of them have arab headress for Jordanians they had better be the desert rats wearing souveniers.

Cheers

Barry, I don't know if you have been in touch with Luddite Smith he has loads of 15mm WW2. I picked up a large box for him at Partizan in September which was full of landing craft etc;

The Chief Luddite has already been in touch with me via the bush telegraph(left over from a previous BoB game? or was it Darkest Africa??) He has kindly offered to contribute the enter OKW Army Group West on a scale of 1:1 plus provide enough landing craft for EVERY beach
No pressure then...

Hi,
don't suppose you chaps will be wanting some help with this one. I'd be happy to game or paint. Let me know the dates and I can check with the missus.

Even if I can't play 6BN Royal Scots Fusiliers will be available on the day.

D-Day game

Hi folks,

I'd love to take part in this too. FOW is a fine wee set of rules, so it should be great fun.

Great to see we've got definite commits from

Peter McCarroll
Adrian Howe
Paul Mclauchlin
Dave O'Brien
Kevin Calder
Dale Smith
Peter Nicholson
Andrew Nicholson

The way the scenario is written there is only room for SEVEN more players so I'll assume first come first serve on this chaps.

Look forward to hearing from you 8)

Not my scene,
not my scale,

BUT,

COUNT ME IN FOR "D" DAY :!:

Nice to see the "squad" at Stoney, and congrats to Peter & Andrew on organising the maritime extravaganza.
