New Marlburian range from Foundry

Post by Eugenio von Savoy » Sun Jul 03, 2011 8:21 pm

Hi all
I was in the Foundry last week and noticed a recent addition within their display cabinets.

They had about two dozen painted examples of their new Marlburian range including many very nice Gardes Francais, British Horse including command and some general purpose wounded figures.

I understand they will be releasing the range later this year and they say there may be some 40 packs.

The figures appeared to be slightly taller than their existing Perry designed Marlburian range, however they are not as tall as Front Rank, thank goodness, so I for one will not be having to up size my units to accommodate.

The detail is excellent with wonderful facial features and there is considerable 'movement' in the figures I saw. I understand that the designer is one of their existing fantasy sculptors. Sorry I was unable to take any pics to show you.

Can't wait to get my Spanish army finished. Ten units completed in the last seven weeks and just twenty more to go.

I now need to think what I will be using these for. Savoyard? More French? But what a state to be in.

Regards

Hopefully they are nice. And hopefully they will have done pikemen for the Brits.

Funny that, I was there on the other Sat at the Open Weekend and saw them myself, I just assumed that it was just another range that didn't make it to the catalouge.

Probaly saving them for later in the year when they'll put the prices up

Gents,

Whilst that may be true, from what I saw they are without doubt the best sculptures for the Marlburian period I have seen to date. These have some real animation to them.
Be prepared to be amazed is all I can say guys.

They are ok but I'll be sticking with Front Rank.

I went to Foundry last week,( I had to travel over, because when I wanted to place a telephone order for some of the remaining Marlburian figures, I was told we are too busy to take your order, call back the following week!!!)
poor customer service and little or no product knowledge together with the place seemed to be either having a car boot or closing down sale

I saw the new Marlburian range, strange postures and facial features, some figures had very strange muskets that seemed straight out of the GW 40K range, and I got the impression from senior staff at Foundry that the figure packs would come in multiable postures. Sorry I wont be waiting for them, try looking at the new Ebob range instead.

I checked the link above and the Marlburians looked alright to me. Are you sure you weren't shown the "Beastmen" instead?

nope, trust me, Ive seen them in the flesh now twice, some of the most bizzare looking muskets, looking like underbarrel shotguns, and postures that bear no relation to 18th century drill or postures. To be honest I think they are on a parr with the ECW generals they released a few years ago, err very hinchcliffe 70's retro.

However, the cavalry do look good, big me on big horses. Have pics on my phone, so will try to work out how to download to the p.c

Pictures up on their site. Very strange muskets, look like 2oth century Mannlicher Carcano.
taking the piss with the price though. £1.50 for a standard infantryman and £2 for an officer!!!.

well I cant understand why they dropped the old range.

These look ruddy awful- why cant the people who give figure designers a brief do it properly- what kind of pose is MB502- infantry advancing???
And what are those muskets supposed to be?

The old range was far superior, this is just a waste of time and effort, roll on ebob
