I think the range MAY have been designed quite some time ago. I say this because I bought 'remaindered' artillery packs from Dave Thomas 1 year ago and the artillery figures in it are the ones shown as 'new' in the range being advertised. I pointed these out to Dave at the time and said I have never seen them before and asked were they new? He had no idea either. I believe Foundry probably held them back as substandard but have seen the free ride the FR are getting at the moment in the 'WSS Derby' That has prompted their release as a 'spoiler' .. my view but I think it holds some water..

quite like some of the casualties but have a look at the officer's coats in the command pack. Length of skirts particularly. The sash on one is - in a bow on the wrong side.. Some of the firing line quite nice, some shooters very odd. Marching, shouldered musket look OK but none of the socks have sock ties as far as I can see...

Sock ties man, dam it, look at the "muskets" on the casualty figures  :x
Even Hollywood muskets looked more musket than these

They look more of a range for Goverment troops in a pirate game where historical accuracy goes out the window, may be the designer watched a certain movie or 3 for inspiration

Can't wait for the cavalry

couldn't see the wood for the sock ties!

Also just noticed the S&M shoulder strap buckles... for giving yer brood a damn good thrashing!

The designer can only be blamed for part of it... what was the brief and more to the point WHO wrote it????

Some of the figures look OK and would blend in with what I have already but I've noticed the usual Foundry trick that packs seem to have crept up to £12 and you only get 6 figures so they can't even compete with FR on price.

Well, how many manufacturers sculpt "officer suffering from dysentery but gamely carrying on?"

I cant help feeling a little sorry for foundry, admittedly i cant see why there so expensive, but if i was starting the period all over again and they were only 50p each,i'd buy 'em ( i can live with the muskets and lack of sock ties for that price) :P

I heard at Partizan today that they were designed by a Fantasy designer. Style is a subjective thing so I don't think the sculptor can be faulted for that. The guilty party is without doubt the Project Owner and issuer of the 'Brief'. He or she needs fired (from one of those Flintlock Martini Henry Shotguns....) 8)

Heres a thought...maybe they are fantasy Malbarians! I once saw a box of figures at a bring and buy que in York; the owner described them as fantasy napoleonics. Strange elf like French and Ogre like Brits. so i suppose its possible. :)
