Gardes Te Voet seen heading to the Worlds

Post by arthur1905 » Wed Sep 23, 2015 2:29 pm

We are putting on a demonstration game of the Williamite War in Ireland, looking at a action 3-4 days before the Boyne.

this will be a expanded version of the game we put on at Newark earlier in the month

This is my first of two battalions for the Dutch Guard, and to highlight there status, I have given them three standards, thus usefully using up all six of Barry / Clarence's superb standards. (I know that possibly half of you will be shouting what about the third battalion, well you might get some insight into the belief of them just having two battalions in Barry's upcoming Irish book)
As for the colour of the Cuff's ect, I have seen every variation from bright yellow through to bright Orange, i just think the Orange makes them standout.

Oh and to salute Clarence, the pike stand of my King James foot guard, other two bases on the painting bench.

i hope to see you at the Worlds, please come over for a chat,
many thanks
Mark (Derby Wargames Society)

Running out of superlatives here - how about "wonderful!" Great flags - you will have to let us know how they do in action!

A big thank you to everyone who stopped and showed a interest in the game, and my apologies to every one that came over late on both days when my voice had nearly given up. I met a lot of very nice people who allowed me to trap them while I tried to explain the game and general (and not so) history of the conflict in Ireland.

Sorry no photo's at the moment as the shot's I took have all turned out very green (well I guess it is Ireland) many thanks to everyone for making it a great show, hopefully my voice will have come back tomorrow.

Now to start building the walls and bridge of Athlone so its ready for May Partizan 2016.
Cheers
Mark

Thank you, I am lucky that Clarence / Barry's flags make by painting look better than it is, and they drew people into the game at the weekend.

Just saw this Mark. Wish I had seen the game. Stuff looks great - love the Foot Guards pike stand!
