Hello,
I have some Russians for the GNW and I will possibly have some Austrians later. Since Medieval times till WW1 the Turks have always been there. Any suggestions on the building of a Turkish force. Even if they did not go to wat in the time frame of Beneath the Lily Banner
Best regards,
Jean

The Turks did march on the Russians after Poltava, egged on by Charles of Sweden who had escaped into the Ottoman Empire after the defeat, they fought a large battle near bender where the Russian army was on the verge of being destroyed but the grand vizier agreed a treaty. So there is absolutely scope for a Turkish army in this period. The plan was to march into southern Russia with the main Turkish army whilst the Crimean Tatars, Ukranian Cossacks, Swedes and dis-affected Poles marched into Poland to meet up with the Swedish forces occupying Poland at the time.
I would personally be tempted to use the figures from Brigade Games Napoleon in Egypt range if doing it in 28mm. The Great Northern War Compendium has a piece on this battle with army list and also a whole section on uniforms.

Thank you. I shall look at it closely. It opens a whole new world of possibilités in what if scenarios.
Best regards,

Quite a fascinating period for the Ottomans but not a lot of good information around in English. The Brigade figures are excellent but with the Pound plummeting towards parity with the dollar, getting very pricey. I've been trying some conversions of Perry plastics as an alternative source of Ottoman infantry.

They'd work well. Caliver have some Napoleonic Ottomans that would donate a few useful figures. The TAG range looks a bit early but the later cavalry would work..

I have used TAG, old glory, Redoubt and converted foundry for my ottomans for this period, brigade games ottomans also would work well. A Ottoman army is so full of opportunities
