English/Dutch cuirassiers in NYW?

Post by TheRightfulKing2013 » Sat Jan 06, 2018 3:27 am

Did English and Dutch cavalry still wear cuirasses or lobster helmets during the Nine Years War 1688-97? I'm aware that the English entered the WSS without them but then reintroduced them during the latter conflict.

Hi

For the English the lobster helmet was probably no longer in use. Not sure about back/front armour.

Cheers

References to infantry wearing cavalry armour in Ireland during assaults suggests some units may still have at least carried some armour but the nationality is not clear.

Intriguing. Do you have a link on that or a reference? Thanks.
