OK, so after two years I've finally given in to having a section of the FORUM specifically set up to discuss painting techniques, display examples, show your latest projects and chat about this vital part of the hobby. Manufacturers please feel free to post up your sculpts, ask questions about what the gamers are after and generally promote your work.. no charge! Painters, please also feel free to post up your work for comment and critique. I can't promise the unreserved adulation characteristic of some other fora but I would hope you'd get constructive and measured comment!

I have taken a few pictures (you can tell the weather is rubbish today because the new cavalry is a bit darker than the last lot!)

I have drafted a small battle scenario (6-8 units a side) that will use everything I have done so far plus another infantry regiment (underway) and all of my opponent's troops that are readyish (it might get the lazy 'erbert to base them up properly!) I will put up a report of how we do.

Thanks for going to the bother of taking those extra shots Adam.. this is just the stuff I've been looking for and was biting David Imrie's ear to know if he'd seen it.
Antenocetti's eh? I'll go online now and buy it!
Thanx

The Noch tufts are good, but I think the Silflor is more natural and has a better size variation - although a good bit more expensive than Noch

I can vouch for the Silflor grass. The clumps are quite varied in size as well. Antenociti's packs are good value.

So sorry, must disagree. I think that the Noch tufts are far superior to those produced by Silfor. I didn't get tufts, just one tuft that is Araldited to the backing sheet and a b+$$£r to separate, in fact I gave up and consigned it/them to the "the only way to try it is to buy it but never again" box.
The Silflor flock, although it comes in vast amounts, is just as bad as it defies separation and has remained as one clump, despite all my efforts.
All in all a personal thumbs down for Silflor.
Dave.

I have to say I've used a lot of Silflor grass and never had the slightest difficulty. I've found it to be tacky enogh tht it doesn't even need extra glue to hold it. I particularly like their autumn coulored grass. I wonder if you got a bad batch

Yes, got to throw my hat into the Silflor ring too! Occasionally the larger tufts need a little more glue to hold but I've never had trouble separating the tufts and even individual tufts can be cut using a scalpel.
I just ordered both Silflor & Noch tufts from Antenociti's and the arrived within 24 hours... now that is what I call service

Could you give us a quick compare and contrast on the two products?

My opinion Adam:
Both good products. Silflor is the better value for money in terms of volume of product for cash. Their product is bushy-er? and will appear more substantial on a base. Their two tone product is without doubt the uber item... realistic and very attractive in situ.
Both pretty easy to use. Noch is actually over packaged probably adding to the cost somewhat.
BNy the 6mm size SILFLOR for 28mm and also try the Late Autumn 4mm ... VERY realistic looking.. photos of my Napoleonic battery using all of these products soon
