The Poles threw in 24 battalions, 2 batteries and 4 cavalry regiments to try and break the Russian left flank anchored in Utitsa. This is the initial deployment seen from behind the Russian position. The Poles despite valiant efforts never penetrated further than 6 feet into the 12 feet deep table.
