Played our 6th game tonight using the final draft. It was actually Highlanders vs Government troops so was a bit of a stretch for the system.Worked spot on, no problems.
Highlanders managed quite well at the start but when things started to fail a bit they nearly all broke and ran.
I think that we have played as many variations as we can reasonably manage in the time. Certainly no great problems so far.
BTW you don't need to take the fast away Barry!!

Succinct feedback from the Borders men! That is what I expect
Thanks Jim... I just need a little further clarification around the DEFEND order in terms of definition but I agree, I think we are there too. I have edited most of the chapters now. It'll be going 'overseas' for tarting up soon!

Is it too early to ask about an ETA for the new edition?

I don't think it is finished yet. If people ask questions like this.
Barry,
pursuing P.38
When pursuing cavalry come up against fresh enemy, you explain this as deferred to the charge step in the turn;
Q1. does the pursuing unit need to test to charge and charge home?
Q2. does the pursuing unit do the same 2xD6 check for charges to see if they catch the fresh unit stationary?
Q3. why does the fresh enemy unit count as disordered (is this because the routing unit is assumed to have burst through it)?
We find that pursuing cavalry contacting fresh units happens quite a lot in our games due to the squadrons being deployed in some depth.
Bob.
And there is no answer then there is something that is left unfinished.

I'll throw in my two cents without benefit of having the rules handy.
Q1. does the pursuing unit need to test to charge and charge home?
No. The pursuing unit could test to reign-in and cease pursuit.
Q2. does the pursuing unit do the same 2xD6 check for charges to see if they catch the fresh unit stationary?
The pursuer rolls to see how far his pursuit would travel, found on the movement chart. If the target is foot its automatically caught stationary if in range and passes morale to stand. Horse would check morale for being charged and may counter charge if passed. Not completely sure on this without checkin the rules, Barry?
Q3. why does the fresh enemy unit count as disordered (is this because the routing unit is assumed to have burst through it)?
Not sure on this without the rules handy. Routing units can go around formed troops if there is a gap. Defer to Barry.

Quick update Chaps.. we haven't gone to sleep on this.. the preparation of the terrain for Historicon is occupying Clarence's time at the moment and I am furiously trying to pull together 16 battalions and 12 squadrons + guns to use at Historicon.. this is all new stuff as I don't intend shipping my own collection over and back so it'll get painted, shipped to Clarence for finishing work, used at the show and sold at the show or on ebay afterwards.. combined, these activities are preventing us doing much more work on BLB2. A late summer release is still on the agenda.

Hi David,
precise 'date' no. Simply because I have held off taking several of the photos I wanted to include until the new figure range is photographed properly. The book is done effectively, we are just dropping in pix at the moment.
Hope this helps although perhaps not exactly the reply you wanted!

strangely enough Clarence sent me the first draft copy with pictures tonight by YOUSEND IT. It looks very nice. We are still working on making it something that people will be really pleased to own. We will soon, post a taster up on the site for you all to see.
