BP wrote: I'm still not sure on the ease with which a drilled French column can sweep a veteran British line battalion away. As has been previously discussed, some sort of -ve for trying to charge home against a steady British line might be appropriate, Bill.
I've been saying this since day one of the first playtests but would a certain Napoleon Hilton listen?
I've always said it should be the same as the fight or flight test but for the attackers against any troops that remain steady.
Still looked like a good game despite that.

We have used it in the Crimean supplement. I am still not 100% convinced by the arguments pro-line. It seems to fall into the 'fulfil the belief that the British will always win' category. An aspect of gaming I try and avoid in ALL periods as I think it is verging on xenophobia.. something I hope I am never guilty of!
House rules ... your call, I see rules like language, they should be alive and allowed to morph to an extent.

I didn't say that the rule should only be applicable to Brits, I think any unit of any nationality that stays in steady condition after it's fight and flight test should have the same rules applied to them.

Bob,
it's already sorted, here is a flavour:
Any model representing any officer who ever met Marlborough within 96 inches of a unit +4
Any enemy unit which has ever heard of Marlborough -2
Anybody in the army from Marlborough's home town +3
Anyone who ever visited the house that Marlborough spent his seaside holidays +2
Does that cover it?

This so brings back unfond memories & no I never met Marlborough, of Brits as Space marine equivalents compared to any one else.... Though that was Napoleonic not WSS but I am sure all hagiographic home brew rules feel the same.

Dave,
like the Murphy's, I'm not bitter.
Nothing to be bitter about, it's just that the glasses I read with are transparent and clear, not coloured in a red, white and blue union pattern
Anyway, getting back to the original point.... one of the main reasons we did not introduce the further -2 'Charging steady line' was that we were making things progressively more real/difficult to get contact and we cannot forget that it is a game and people want to get troops into combat... let's not all disappear up our own lignes de passage.... remember chaps..
Wee sodjers!

Bill,
I know that question comes a bit late
but may I ask if that terrain was made by some kind of 'cloth' you laid over hills? I thought to see something on one of the first pictures that points into this direction.
Thank You
Günter

Nope! You missed out the most important one:
Before the game starts you toss a coin to see which side Churchill is fighting for.

Hi Gunter, yes its from Terrain Mats
http://terrainmat.com/
I opted for the semi arid one, and there is a nice variation in colour all through the mat, with light greens and browns merging into each other over the whole mat.
